Larry G. Cable ST. PETERS, MO -- Larry Gene Cable, 78, of St. Peters, MO and lifelong resident and native of Arcanum, passed away February 5, 2026. Larry was born on July 24, 1947 to the late Galen and Eileen (Beasecker) Cable. Larry is survived by his wife, Dottie; sons Kerry (Jessica) Cable and Kyle Cable (Dana) of Arcanum, and Craig Cable; granddaughters Isabella (Ethan) Coppess and Audrey (Logan) Fakes; grandsons Zachary (Nychelle) Cable, Brayden Cable and Preston Cable; great-grandchildren Bexley and Laiklyn; his sisters Sharon (Dennis) Rogers and Diana (Jay) Bailey, as well as several nieces and nephews and extended relatives. He was preceded in death by his sister Debbie. Larry was a 1965 graduate of Franklin-Monroe High School. After high school, Larry began farming and worked to restore and drag cars with his Chevy Bel-Air '56 being his favorite car. In 1969 Larry began serving six years in the U.S. Army, two years in active combat during the Vietnam War and four years in the Army Reserves. He was a Sergeant in the 196th 4/31 Infantry Brigade operating in the I Corps Tactical Zone and involved in intense combat. After his service in the Army Larry took over the family farm on Gordon-Landis in Arcanum, began raising hogs and quickly increased his acreage. He also began working at TWA Airlines at the Dayton International Airport. His love for speed led him to build a pulling tractor and this became one of his most cherished hobbies. He took immense pride in his IH Pro Stock tractor known as "Gentleman's Pride" and had much success in the pulling circuits as he loved going to pulls, sharing time with his close friends and competing. Larry later bought a farm outside New Madison and continued to work for American Airlines in St. Louis after TWA was sold and closed it's Dayton flight hub. While in Darke county Larry loved to visit Miller's Tavern in Arcanum and socialize with his friends and farmers of the community. Larry eventually sold his farms in Darke county and retired from American Airlines, residing in St. Louis while making regular visits home to visit his boys, help with farming projects, see grandkids, and go to tractor pulls. Larry was known for his work ethic and his "work hard, play hard" mentality, living by the motto that, "if you're going to do something, do it right and make it the best." He helped instill a strong character and work ethic that lives on today through his boys and grandchildren. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and his presence will be deeply missed. A memorial gathering and visitation for Larry will be held on Monday March 2, 2026 from 5:00-7:00pm at Pleasant View Missionary Church. The family invites all who knew him to attend and share their favorite memories. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Larrys memory to the American Cancer Society.
