Gary K. Yount COVINGTON -- Gary Kent Yount, age 75 of Covington, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024 at his home. He was born on September 8, 1949 in Richmond, IN to the late Dale and Helen (Brown) Yount. In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Karen Yount, who passed away January 20, 2021. Gary is survived by his sons Brad Yount (Donna) of Covington, OH and Brian Yount (Necole Clouse) of Centerville, OH; grandchildren, Alan Yount (Carrie Latham) of Troy, OH, Haley Yount (EJ McKinney) of Versailles, OH, Madison Clouse of Centerville, OH, Angelia Hahn of Troy, OH and Ashley Gann of Missouri; great granddaughters, Iris Sue Yount and another one on the way; brother, Ron Yount (Elieen) of New Paris, OH; sister, Donna York of Greenville, OH; many nieces and nephews; beloved dog, Franco. Gary graduated from Jefferson High School and attended Ohio State University for Communications. He later joined the United States Army Reserves. Gary worked many years and retired from publishing at two different newspapers, The Greenville Daily Advocate and Piqua Daily Call. He also did promotional work and marketing for Lee Greenwood, B.J. Thomas, Paulette Carlson, Highway 101, Jimmy Ellis (Orion), and Jeff Carson. Gary did work recording new songs and putting out both new and combined recordings on CD for release to the general public. He developed a kids sporting entertainment book called ColorSound with Franco Harris of the Pittsburg Steelers. Gary designed the Super J Clown and coloring book for Jamesway retail stores. He also worked with ADVO Direct Mail Company and Trading Post Publications. Gary also owned Balloon Works business in Greenville, OH for several years. He enjoyed breeding American Saddlebreds and Hackney Ponies. Gary also raised, bred, showed and sold Saddle Homer and Fantail Pigeons. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge No. 106 in New Paris, OH. More than anything, Gary loved spending time with his great granddaughter, Iris. A visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00 PM on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville. A Celebration of Gary's Life will be held following the visitation on Sunday at 5:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Eric Fee officiating.
