Jerrold L. (Jerry) Hosterman FINDLAY - Jerrold L. "Jerry" Hosterman, 89, of Findlay, Ohio, formerly of Mt. Blanchard, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at his residence at Taylor Place. Jerry was born on October 25, 1936, to the late Robert L & Blanche G (Schrag) Hosterman in Toledo. He graduated from Sycamore High School in 1954. Jerry served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. When he returned from service, he continued his education by receiving his associate's degree in accounting from Tiffin University in 1960, and then his bachelor's degree in education from Huntington College in 1963. Jerry married Roma M. (Swihart) Hannam in 1964. She proceeded him in death on Dec. 18, 2011. Jerry then married Joan Reynolds in 2012. She survives in Findlay. He is also survived by sons, Victor (Doreen) Hannam and Michael (Yaneth) Reynolds; daughters, Valerie Kuntzman, Jacquie (Eric) Leniahan, Kellie (Tom) Kehres, and Ella (Mike) Vinson; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Ron Hosterman; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughter, Vanna Abbott; son-in-law, Al Kuntzman; and brother Ted Hosterman. Jerry was a schoolteacher for 31 years, retiring from Riverdale in 1995, after 17 years there. He served as a coach for golf and baseball for 20 years, and also coached boys and girls basketball. Jerry was also a member of the Findlay Masonic Lodge, having just earned his 50 Year Certificate in January. He practiced his faith at Mt. Blanchard United Methodist Church, where he served on various committees, but especially enjoyed playing the Easter Bunny, which he did for over 30 years. Jerry volunteered at Bridge Hospice for 20 years and was an active member of 50 North. In his free time, Jerry enjoyed card playing, fishing (his favorite was fishing for perch on Lake Erie), and above all, time spent with family. Jerry will be missed by those who knew him, but especially by his loving family. A Memorial Service was held for Jerry on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 11:00 AM with calling hours beginning at 10:00 AM at Mt. Blanchard UMC, 204 S. Main St., Mt. Blanchard, OH 45867. Rev. Brett Kelly to officiate. Coldren-Crates funeral home Findlay is assisting with arrangements. Military Honors was performed by the Hancock County Memorial Squad. Burial will be private at Kraut Riverview Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Jerry's name to Bridge Home & Hospice, Mt. Blanchard United Methodist Church, and/or 50 North.
