Eugene E. Baker LAURA -- Eugene E. Baker, age 103, of Laura, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at his home. He was born August 8, 1921, in Laura, Ohio, Ohio, to his parents David S. & Kate Jane (Cordier) Baker. On October 17, 1946, he married J. Jean Hunt and together they shared a life for over 65 years. Gene served his country in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He worked and retired from Frigidaire/Harrison Radiator/General Motors in Dayton after 45 years of service. He also served as a volunteer and member of the Laura Fire Company. Over the years he held numerous offices and positions with the Laura Christian Church and Village of Laura. He was preceded in death by his loving wife J. Jean (Hunt) Baker; brothers Franklin D. Baker and Harold C. Baker; sisters Mary (Baker) Bridenbaugh, Esther (Baker) Hall, Ruby (Baker) Dearth. He was also blessed with three children Douglas E. & Elaine (Stemley) Baker, Denise E. (Baker) & Eric Spire; Dee Ann (Baker) & Martin Jones; grandchildren Amber (Baker) & Mark Richey, Daniel & Billie Baker, Britney (Jones) & Tim Pfahler, Kim (Jones) & Matt Brubaker, Eric (Chip) & Stephanie Spires; 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, March 3, at the Laura Christian Church, 1 S. Main Street, Laura, with interment following at Old Ludlow Cemetery, Laura. The family will receive friends from 2:00-5:00 PM Sunday at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami Street, West Milton.
