Donald Thompson ARCANUM -- Donald “Gene” Thompson, age 92, of Arcanum; passed away to be with his Lord and Savior on September 11, 2024 at EverHeart Hospice at Wayne Hospital. Gene was born on September 13, 1931 in Darke County to the late Chester and Laverne Thompson. He graduated from Franklin-Monroe high school in 1949. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He married Sandra Jane Longenecker on October 1, 1955. Gene retired from Farming at age 88. He farmed all his life. Gene will always be remembered as kind and generous. He enjoyed flying airplanes, riding his 4 wheeler, fishing and watching sports. He was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church. Gene is preceded in death by his beloved wife Sandra Jane Thompson, his grandson, Kyle House, and son-in-law, Lars Jenssen. He is survived by his daughters, Renae Thompson of Vandalia, Rayna Thompson Jenssen of Arcanum, and Kim (Terry) House, of Arcanum; granddaughters Ann (Gavin) Glasscoe of Arcanum and Lena (Alex Hummel) Jenssen of Wauwatosa, WI; great-grandsons Evan, Connor, and Cooper Glasscoe. There will be a graveside service for Donald at 10a.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Mote Cemetery in Pitsburg. Online condolences may be made by visiting Kreitzerfuneralhome.com.
