Ruth A. Loy ARCANUM -- Ruth Ann Loy, age 89, formerly of Arcanum, passed away on April 9, 2026, at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Loy; parents, Emmitt Elsworth McDivitt and Mary (Parks) McDivitt; son Garry Colvin; daughter, Tammy Loy, daughter-in-law Robin Colvin; stepsons Bobby and Russel Loy; granddaughter Kaylah Loy; numerous brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Ruth was 1 of 16 children of Emmitt and Mary McDivitt. She was a graduate of the 1956 class at Jackson High School in Camblestown, OH. She worked at Jerry’s Restaurant in Richmond, IN. She worked as a demo lady at Krogers and owned and operated with her husband at RR+M Concessions. Ruth also took care of numerous elderly people over the years. She retired in Florida for 20 years. She enjoyed going to garage sales, golfing (which she got a double eagle), raising goats on the farm and selling the goats milk and mushroom hunting in Michigan. She was a 4-H Goat advisor in the 1970’s. She also enjoyed camping at Modoc Campground in Indiana and going to McDivitt family reunions. She is survived by her children, Jim Colvin, Larry Colvin and Mark (Amy) Loy; step-sons, Chuck (Cindy) Loy and Rick Loy; daughter-in-law Monica Colvin; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Whitey McDivitt of Fountain City and Paul McDivitt (Betty) of Glenwood; and sister Ruby Hackenbrack of Medina; her dog Dusty and numerous friends. Visitation for Ruth will be on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Kreitzer Funeral Home 204 N. Main ST. Arcanum, OH 45304 with her service commencing at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Paul Nichols officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris, OH.
